Julia Montgomery, founder of Beyond the Swipe, brings over a decade of experience in the tourism industry, having worked with the largest Global Travel Organisation.
Known for her ability to build meaningful relationships with Australia’s top 5-star hotels and travel agents, Julia excelled in showcasing destinations through storytelling, earning numerous industry awards and recognition for her passion, drive, and work ethic.
Inspired by her parents’ entrepreneurial spirit and dedication, Julia developed a strong “work hard, play hard” mindset. This foundation fuelled Julia’s success in connecting people, including introducing 13 couples—9 of whom are now married—through her extensive travel across 32 countries.
Frustrated with the superficiality of digital and speed dating, Julia founded Beyond the Swipe. Her vision is to help singles form genuine connections through meaningful events.
What Fuelled my Passion!
In 1962 a young New Zealander left home for a one year trip to Europe. He returned some 20 years later with a wife, four children and the internationally renowned tour company - Contiki Holidays. To date over two million young people have had the Contiki Challenge

Passion Beyond the Classroom
I wasn’t the fastest learner in school and didn’t fit the traditional student mold. Struggling with subjects like math and ADHD, I often felt isolated, labeled as a distraction. Despite the pressure of the HSC, what truly shaped me wasn’t exams, but my resilience and determination to carve my own path and ignore the outside voices and bullies.
Through work and real-life Travel Experiences, I developed skills like problem-solving, creativity, and leadership—skills I didn’t learn in textbooks. I believe the education system should focus more on practical life skills, like financial literacy and entrepreneurship, to prepare us for the future. My journey is one of perseverance and success through what truly matters, and I carry that passion into everything I do.

Today, I run my own business, working with a team of incredible people, working on my own terms, and using the lessons from my journey to help others thrive.
